SPE Technical Conference Breakfast Keynote

I had a fabulous time speaking to members of SPE (Society of Professional Engineers) at their kickoff Breakfast on September 28, 2015 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.. I presented my popular S.T.A.R.Qualities, a 30-minute presentation geared to boosting your personal effectiveness!

T aking care of ourselves is top priority, especially in today's crazy, fast, get it all done filled days. Below are three ways you life balance in check so that you are ready for all the challenges you face everyday in your personal, business and wherever life takes you! Exercise - Several months ago, my husband and I bought new bikes to ride around the neighborhood. We wanted bikes that are easy to handle and easy to ride. We didn't get cheap bikes, we searched for well made, sturdy and easy to ride bikes. We didn't realize just how much we enjoyed riding bikes. It's easy on the joints and a great workout for the legs and those muscles we use to 'hold ourselves up'. Be sure to find way to exercise that you enjoy because you will stay motivated. Get plenty of sleep - sleep gives your mind and body the opportunity to rest and recover from the day's activities and gets you ready for the next day. I get at least seven hours during the week....

Opportunity. Experience. Knowledge. As a long-time Toastmaster, I continue to look for ways to sharpen my speaking and leadership skills to be ready to make a presentation to a local organization or club meetings. Years ago I believed that at some point, I would know it all and not need to do anything else. Of course, I learned that it doesn’t work that way because progress takes constant planning and execution.
